The 1st Tablet Strip Arrives!

As you can tell, I'm going to be doing A LOT more experimenting with my art styles now that I have this wee little tablet. It affords me the ability to erase and tweak until my heart's content. So I hope you'll enjoy the ride of "Bill: The Artist's Voyage" as much as I am so far. Damn, that sounded a whole lot less "Bob Ross-ish" in my head.

Anyway, here's the new strip. I've tried some new coloring techniques, and it really started taking a lot of time, because I can be so much pickier now. I'm sure the process will speed up, but don't be surprised if a lot of strips end up as 1 or 2 panels for a little while. Hell the fact that this was taking so long is what caused me to go with this joke.

And for the record, every last detail of this one was done on my PC. No pencils or paper involved. I love my new toy. :)

1st Wacom Doodle!

Here it is folks, wholly created in Photoshop using my brand new Wacom Tablet. There's soooo much this little thing can do in tandem with a program like PS, and I've just scratched the surface. Expect our 1st digitally inked strip this weekend, and expect it to have a more organic/sketchy look that I like much more, thanks to the abilities of this little gadget.

Until then, gaze in wide wonder at "Trollman", my new friend. He's a beaut... because he has opened my eyes to the greatness that is Wacom's little product.

ALL HAIL THE TABLET!

Tablet Arrives!

Today is the day that my magical toy is supposed to arrive. I'll know soon enough when I get home from work. If all goes according my evil plan, we'll have a new strip before the week's end!

Tablet Status

At last check, my Wacom Tablet was on its way to Indiana via UPS Ground. Scheduled delivery of the 27th. Keep your fingers crossed that it gets here sooner so I can update the strip this weekend. :)

WACOM Tablet Get

I'll be ordering my 4x6 Wacom Intuos Tablet this week. So until it gets here and I get familiar with it, expect no new strips. I know, I know. You're heart-broken. But I've got school (web design) going on in the background, and that's taking up a lot of my free time. Who knew learning all those coding languages would take time?

The good side of both these things is that...

1.) With a Wacom tablet, our strips will go up in quality. Digital inking will allow us to erase and redo our lines, so that they will end up looking more like the original sketches, and have varying widths when appropriate, as well as backgrounds more often. At least, that's my hope.

2.) Learning all these new web design skills has me putting together a brand new site for Don't Panik. I need to learn a few things about PHP and MySQL still to create a database for the strip images and a blog for me to rant on, but the general layout is already complete. So, booyah.

In short, things are busy and until I get the tablet there'll be no new strip. So take a 2 week break from Don't Panik. I'll be notifying the masses once a new one's up. :)

Cheers!

Strip's Late Again... We Beg Forgiveness

It's been another crazy weekend, with a lot going on and homework for Bill. So no new strip tonight. There is one in the works, and it very well may be the last one to come via real-world ink. We should be getting our Wacom Tablet this week or next, so then we'll be stepping into the world of digital inking.

What's that mean for Don't Panik? It means more professional looking strips, huzzah!

So again, we're sorry about the lack of strip today, if all goes well and is not too hectic this week, we should be able to squeak one out before next weekend strolls along. So thanks for being patient!

New Strip Monday Night

My slacker of a wife (just kidding, honey) was too busy today to ink the most recent strip I've drawn out. She promises me and our loyal readers (all five of you) that she'll get it done Monday and we'll then summarily have the strip up that evening.

So keep those eyes peeled.
